Last weekend, I was able to buy a new set of calligraphy nibs and a holder from D. Leonardt & Co. The set includes No. 6 Scroll, 30 England, 26580 England, No. 41 Hiro, and England 43. The biggest issue I've had with them is keep a solid line on downward strokes, so I turned to the internet for guidance, like any 21st century citizen would. I found that fine nibs are for creating smaller fonts and more precise strokes. The biggest struggle is “railroading,” or not dipping often enough. This causes ink to flow from the tines, and not fill in between, thus the name railroading. To avoid this, dip every (other) time you lift the pen. In order to maintain pressure and thickness, practice is key. The three main types of strokes (branching, push/pull, and vertical) are also the most common. Words like punctuation, regulation, and minimum all work with specific strokes.

20 Time #3- Calligraphy

20 Time #2 -Calligraphy
This weekend I plan on trying faux calligraphy, which doesn’t use the traditional dip pen. Instead, you learn how the letters are suppose to look because you fill in the thicker lines. The only difficult part is making your cursive large and legible. Unlike Ken Burn’s method, (previous post) Lindsey Bugbee suggests beginners hold calligraphy pens similar or the same way they hold other writing utensils. It is more comfortable, and the writer already knows the nature of the grip. The easiest way to learn is go back to the basics and use letter worksheets like kindergartners. Copy “a” again, and again, and again until you can’t get it wrong. If you add your own personal flair, Bugbee doesn’t find a problem with it.
Past the Point of No Retun
Today I got to revisit the website that got me interested in the topic of black holes and what lays beyond them. I got to log all the information about what theoretically happens when you travel through the black hole, and its effects on light and gravity. All the facts I found today will be vital to my presentation, so I'm at a pretty good place right now.

This week I worked on my elevator pitch and gathered supplies to make this project work. I'm going to start work on finding people who will use the radar gun and stopwatch as well take videos of my swing.

20 Time
We worked on our 20 time presentation so we did not have anything to research.
This class me and Zach worked on perfecting our Elevator pitch, so there wasn't anything to research today. However, I believe our presentation will be great, and it will show our idea to the class well.
Pictures with Shadows
Today I learned how enhance my pictures with shadows. One of the best advice I found was to take pictures where the shadow is evident in the scene. Another idea was to turn your camera upside down. Another thing you could try distort the shadow by manipulating it with a piece of glass or a book.
Blog Post 2/10/16
Today we learned that a lot of popular foods we eat aren’t the most nutritious for us but there are easy substitutions to make it better for you. We also learned that many of the foods we eat daily can be replaced with accessible foods that are healthier for you and your body. When we actually get chance to create these foods we will be able to look back at our notes and websites to substitute ingredients.
Learning Lefty
I'm only a couple weeks into my project and I'm already falling behind on my left handed writing! I haven't been writing daily as I originally planned, so I'll need to work on that. I understand that it will take lots of practice for me to actually train my left hand to become ambidextrous. I will start to get back into the swing of things and start writing more for the rest of the project! Right now, I'm looking at how-to articles and pictures that show me different ideas for strengthening my left hand. I've learned that things like attempting coloring pages will help! Hopefully I can get back on track for the next few weeks.
20 Time 2/10
Today I researched why certain substitutions are better for you instead of the other ingredient. I learned that a lot of the foods I have been eating can be made healthier while still tasting similar by replacing it with something else. Hopefully in the next week or 2 we can start getting our hands on this project and creating foods that are more nutritious!
20 time #2
Today we are presenting our 20 time elevator pitches and we completed ours and are now doing more research about trick shots. In the future, we are going to start recording our video and performing the trick shots. We learned that there is going to be a lot of work involved in making this video but it will be fun and interesting to do.
Kyle and I have worked more on the layout of the game and how it will work. The game Menu Mystery isn't finalized but we have a good idea of where we will go next. We researched board game history and a few different game rules to get an idea of what we want our board game to be like.
Photoshopping
For my 20 Time project last semester, I did photo shoots of my younger brothers, and this semester I want to learn photo-shopping so that I can edit the pictures I took to make them look brighter, clearer, and more finished. Last week I was just working on my elevator pitch and figuring out my project, so this week I'm going to actually start by researching and downloading a photoshopping program so I can start!
20 Time #2
Today we presented our elevator pitch and got it approved. Next week we are going to start working on ideas for the shots that we want to do. We've seen videos and have ideas of all the shots that we think would be fun to do and now we just have to decide which ones to perform.

Today, on my project I worked on my elevator pitch. My project is the Instagram people idea. I am going to create my Instagram profile after the elevator pitch is delivered. I am going to also request from my teachers if they can have as many students from each class follow my account. Other than that there really isn't anything new going on in my project. I still need to look up what kind of negative, neutral, and positive picture I am going to post. Either quotes or powerful pictures.

20 time
My plan for 20 time is to find an organization I can help out with and start sending packages. I also need to start research for the project.I have practiced my presentation and next week I need to start on the next due date.

20time
For my 20 time project I am writing to people in the military and retired veterans. I am doing this to show the different perspectives of being in the military and retiring. I am asking how it was for them and how it is now and of course other questions. Since I know getting the letters back from the people deployed will take awhile. I am doing a side project of baking from this cook book my mom got me. Baking will help me improve in the house.
20 Time
Sarah and I decided that we would find unhealthy popular foods that teens eat and make them healthy and beneficial but still good tasting! We did research and found the top 10 foods teens eat and we also looked up substitutions for some products used that don't have much nutrients. Hopefully we can get together soon and start testing out these substitutions and how they taste!
