20 Time #2 -Calligraphy

This weekend I plan on trying faux calligraphy, which doesn’t use the traditional dip pen. Instead, you learn how the letters are suppose to look because you fill in the thicker lines. The only difficult part is making your cursive large and legible. Unlike Ken Burn’s method, (previous post) Lindsey Bugbee suggests beginners hold calligraphy pens similar or the same way they hold other writing utensils. It is more comfortable, and the writer already knows the nature of the grip. The easiest way to learn is go back to the basics and use letter worksheets like kindergartners. Copy “a” again, and again, and again until you can’t get it wrong. If you add your own personal flair, Bugbee doesn’t find a problem with it.
