20 Time #3- Calligraphy

Last weekend, I was able to buy a new set of calligraphy nibs and a holder from D. Leonardt & Co. The set includes No. 6 Scroll, 30 England, 26580 England, No. 41 Hiro, and England 43. The biggest issue I've had with them is keep a solid line on downward strokes, so I turned to the internet for guidance, like any 21st century citizen would. I found that fine nibs are for creating smaller fonts and more precise strokes. The biggest struggle is “railroading,” or not dipping often enough. This causes ink to flow from the tines, and not fill in between, thus the name railroading. To avoid this, dip every (other) time you lift the pen. In order to maintain pressure and thickness, practice is key. The three main types of strokes (branching, push/pull, and vertical) are also the most common. Words like punctuation, regulation, and minimum all work with specific strokes.
